26/02/2010 HMS Ark Royal Did you know that our new Deputy Headmaster, Mr Davies, is a trainee member of the Tynemouth Lifeboat Crew? On Wednesday morning Mr Davies was part of the lifeboat crew that escorted HMS Ark Royal into the Tyne to celebrate her 25th Anniversary. In return for their services the lifeboat crew were invited to have a tour of the Ship and Mr Davies was able to take students Josh Finch and Tom Lees with him. Josh is looking at becoming a pilot in the Navy and Tom wants to join the Royal Marines. Both students had first hand experience of life onboard the Navy’s flagship. In their comprehensive tour they visited everything from the Flight Deck to the Engine Room. HMS Ark Royal is currently home to former King’s School student, Sub Lieut Martin Dyer. Maybe next time she comes into port we will be meeting Josh and Tom ?
