The moment we learned to copy our mothers’ smiles, we became aesthetic individuals.Personal growth is the aim of life and creativity guides us to seek meaning and become the person we are. Encouraging creative and imaginative intelligences is vital in developing the whole person at King’s. In addition to drawing and painting, our Art Department offers ceramics, sculpture, stained glass, lino and silkscreen printing. Our Music Department provides a free instrumental teaching scheme for pupils new to Junior and Senior Schools. Individual specialist lessons are offered in a wide variety of instruments and voice, leading to the examinations of the Associated Board. Two orchestras and two choirs as well as other ensembles exist to give musicians at all levels the opportunity to play together. Drama is a vibrant extra-curricular activity throughout the School, with the opportunity to participate in several annual productions open to all. Specialist Speech and Drama lessons are arranged for individuals, preparing for the examinations of the London Academy of Dramatic Art. As well as being in constant use for our pupils, our 700-seat King’s Hall is a popular venue for visiting choirs, orchestras and theatre groups.
